LONDON -- The Film London Production Finance Market (PFM) has renewed its ties with the Melbourne International Film Festival?s MIFF 37?South Market to be the PFM?s exclusive Australian/New Zealand partner until 2015.
Both parties are attending the European Film Market in Berlin drumming up business for their meet-and-greet platforms for producers from across the globe.
The renewal follows four years that have seen a trio of handpicked Australasian producers attend the PFM to pitch to international financiers. The partnership provides three guaranteed Australia/New Zealand places at the PFM.
The trio of Australian/NZ producers are selected exclusively from those producers attending 37?South. The partnership will also ensure a continuation of Film London CEO Adrian Wootton's Illustrated Film Talks during the annual MIFF.
MIFF 37?South Market is Australia/NZ?s only film co-financing market to occur in the context of an international film festival.
Supported by the Australian State Government of Victoria, MIFF 37?South Market will take place July 25 -28 during the opening weekend of MIFF, Australia and New Zealand?s largest and oldest film festival.
Wootton, who also wears a hat as the British Film Commission chief said: "It is fantastic to be renewing this hugely important partnership. It beneficial to both our events, and certainly allows the PFM to select from some of the best Australasian producers to attend the PFM. It also gives a unique opportunity to these producers, giving them access to a host of international financiers in London, something which is unlikely they would be able to do otherwise.?
MIFF 37?South Market director Mark Woods noted: "As the Victorian State Government recognizes through its support of 37?South, film co-financing is an international business reliant on relationships so enabling three 37?South producers to continue pitching their projects at a key event in one of the world?s great film finance hubs is a key part of the strategy to form a bridge between Melbourne and the international film business."
]The PFM, established seven years ago in the British capital, aims to connect producers with financiers to seed global film financing relationships.
The PFM has existing partnerships with Toronto International Film Festival?s International Financing Forum, Ile de France Film Commission, the Nordic Co-Production Market at the Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund and PRIMEXCHANGE in Goa, India.
The Film London Production Finance Market 2013 is supported by the British Film Institute, the Mayor of London, MEDIA, U.K. Trade & Investment and peacefulfish.
This year's PFM runs Oct. 16-17.
