T-Mobile USA at CES Tuesday announced it will begin offering an all-new, unlimited prepaid data plan for just $70. Customers can sign up for the plan starting Wednesday via T-Mobile stores and online.
?Consumers want their data to be blazing fast, without limits and without overages. With our new Unlimited Nationwide 4G Data plan, that?s exactly what we?re giving them, said T-Mobile marketing officer Mike Sievert. "Other carriers want to lock customers in; we?re going to earn our customers? business with an amazing 4G experience every day."
This new plan, which is especially designed for smartphone owners, is a step up from previous prepaid T-Mobile plans and undercuts Verizon and AT&T's offering by $5 per month. The largest prepaid plan T-Mobile previously offered was unlimited talk and text, with 2GB of data for $45 per month.
T-Mobile's decision to launch yet another prepaid plan is extremely smart, especially considering the prepaid market is growing quickly. The unlimited data plan also portends a growing trend of increased data usage among consumers in general.
As for smartphones, customers can choose any device in T-Mobile's lineup. From the Galaxy S III to the Nexus 4, customers can use whatever smartphone they desire. Customers can also bring the iPhone to T-Mobile for use on its prepaid network.
